Product and Business Introduction

LiMEX, A specialist in suppressing metal and battery fires.

Introducing the “LiMEX” Metal Fire Extinguisher

How a battery fire develops (3 steps)

step 01

Overcharge, Over discharge, Shock or Self-Defect, etc.

  • - Overcurrent
  • - Temperature rise within the battery
step 02

Breakage of the battery separator and internal short circuit

  • - Generating flammable and toxic gases as the electrolyte decomposes
step 03

Ignition and thermal runaway phenomenon

Features and advantages of LiMEX fire extinguisher for metal fires

  • Powder name : 3CP (Carbon Compound Ceramic Powder)
  • Particle structure : Triple-structured micro-spherical powder
  • The suffocation effect is excellent by blocking oxygen
  • By adding the graphene mixture, Excellent cooling effect due to rapid heat dissipation
  • As a micro-spherical particle, it has good fluidity and penetrates into the corners to effectively
Actual powder magnified 200x (100~150㎛)

Self-fire extinguisher test and results in accordance with

Class D metal fire type standards

Ignite 2.7 kg of the magnesium chip
Wait until the magnesium chip burns 50%.
Start extinguishing the fire when the flames have spread by 50%.
Fire suppression has been completed.
-The total time after ignition was 3 minutes and 8 seconds.

Purpose of the National Fire Agency's

fire extinguisher type approval and product inspection technical standards

Fire extinguishers are subject to legal mandatory certification under Article 37 of the Fire Protection Facilities Installation and Management Act, and must be certified for domestic production and distribution.
Until now, there were no certification or inspection standards for Class D fire extinguishers to effectively suppress metal fires. However, in order to suppress the indiscriminate use of unproven metal fire extinguishers, mass-produce national standard products for metal fire extinguishers, and enhance the ability to respond to metal fires, we have decided to introduce technical standards for type approval of metal fire extinguishers and product inspection that adheres to overseas standards (ISO7165, UL711) to protect the lives and property of the people. (Effective on July 25, 2024)

Excerpt from Summary of Technical Standards for

Class D Fire Extinguisher Type Approval and Product Inspection

  • Ingredients of fire extinguishing agent : Powders such as sodium chloride, graphite and copper
  • Fire extinguisher volume : Over 13.6kg
  • Fire extinguishing performance test conditions
    • - Extinguishing metal materials : Magnesium alloy chips 2.7kg or more
    • - Fire test model :
      1. A. steel floor (1m x 1m, Steel plate thickness : over 5mm )
      2. B. Metal frame (600mm x 600mm x 300mm)
  • Fire extinguishing test : Twice each, all fires must be completely extinguished
    • - 1st fire extinguishing test : Magnesium Chip 100% Extinguishment Test
    • - 2nd fire extinguishing test : 90% magnesium chips + 10% cutting oil
    • - However, the test material must not scatter outside the steel floor during the release operation.)

LiMEX package product for metal fire and battery fire response

  • Class D fire extinguisher : Excellent suffocating, cooling and reverse catalytic effects.
  • Battery charging and safety handling box
    • - Relieves anxiety about the risk of explosion when charging the battery
    • - If vapor clouds form from the battery, you can extinguish the fire by placing it in a safety box and closing it.
  • Pad-type fire extinguisher for metal fires : In the event of a battery fire, if you throw or place it on top of the fire, extinguishing agent will be released and the fire can be put out.
  • Tongs, heat-proof gloves, gas mask : These are tools for placing batteries in a safety handling box immediately when a vapor cloud occurs in .
